Customized Implementation Plan for Wall Mural Painting in Water Parks
Theme Compatibility: Align with the core themes of water parks such as parent-child fun, adventure, and tropical vibes, and enhance scene immersion through murals.
Safety Priority: Use non-toxic and eco-friendly materials. Patterns shall have no sharp edges, and surfaces shall be slip-resistant to suit high-frequency contact scenarios for tourists (including children).
Durable Protection: Resist long-term immersion, moisture erosion, UV radiation and slight friction, and prevent fading, blistering, peeling and mildew.
Easy Maintainability: The surface is easy to clean and can be partially repaired, reducing the cost of later operation and maintenance.
All wall areas in the water park, including:
Walls in shallow/deep water zones (areas subject to long-term immersion/splashing);
Walls on both sides of lazy rivers and slides (areas exposed to high-speed water impact and sunlight);
Walls in public walkways, rest areas and entrances/exits (areas with high-frequency trampling and contact);
Themed zone walls (such as scene-decorated areas like fairy tale zones, ocean zones and rainforest zones);
Walls around equipment and corridors (semi-humid and shaded areas).
Three Core Directions:
Parent-Child Fairy-Tale Style: Soft patterns such as cartoon characters, rainbows and clouds with bright and warm colors (e.g., pinkish blue, light yellow, tender green);
Tropical Fantasy Style: Elements like palm trees, coconut groves, marine life (dolphins, corals, tropical fish) and volcanoes with rich and vivid colors (e.g., dark green, royal blue, orange red);
Adventure & Exploration Style: Scene-based patterns including pirate ships, ancient castles, waterfalls and rocks with relatively calm colors (e.g., dark brown, navy blue, ochre).
Design Principles:
The proportion of patterns shall match the wall size to avoid distortion;
UV-resistant color formulas shall be adopted for color selection, with priority given to high-saturation and sun-resistant colors (e.g., titanium white, ultramarine blue, iron oxide red) to reduce fading;
Avoid small and fragmented patterns (prone to dirt accumulation and difficult to clean). Core areas shall mainly feature large color blocks and simple lines, with local embellishments in detailed areas.
| Area Type | Design Focus | Protection Enhancement Measures |
|---|
| Long-term Immersion Zones | Large color blocks, no complex textures | Apply an extra coat of water-resistant primer and topcoat |
| High-Frequency Contact Zones | Rounded pattern edges, slip-resistant surface treatment | Use topcoat with fine textures |
| Sun-Directed Zones | Low-lightness and high sun-resistant colors | UV-resistant topcoat with thickness ≥ 0.3mm |
| Children's Activity Zones | Cartoon characters, soft colors | Materials that pass child safety certification |
Base Treatment: Water-resistant repair mortar (compressive strength ≥ 25MPa), moisture-proof sealing primer (adhesion grade ≤ 1);
Mural Core: Water park-specific water-resistant and UV-resistant paint (solid content ≥ 50%, water resistance ≥ 96 hours without abnormality), eco-friendly color paste (non-toxic and odorless, with heavy metal content meeting standards);
Protective Top Layer: Two-component water-resistant and UV-resistant topcoat (hardness ≥ 2H, scrub resistance ≥ 5,000 times, UV aging resistance ≥ 1,000 hours without chalking).
Masking Materials: High-adhesion masking film, masking tape (water-resistant and no adhesive residue);
Tools: Waterproof rollers, corrosion-resistant brushes, high-pressure airbrushes (suitable for water-resistant paint);
Auxiliary Materials: Dehumidifiers (controlling construction humidity), spirit levels, stencils (for complex patterns).
On-Site Survey: Confirm the wall base type, humidity (≤ 85%) and leakage status, and mark the construction boundaries;
Plan Disclosure: Clarify design drawings, color codes and area priorities to the construction team (construct non-operational areas first, then operational areas);
On-Site Protection: Cover the ground, equipment and pipelines with masking film, and set up temporary guardrails to prevent tourist contact;
Environmental Control: Ensure good ventilation in the construction area. Turn on dehumidifiers in humid areas and avoid construction on rainy or high-humidity days.
Cleaning and Grinding: Remove dust, oil stains and mold from walls. Grind concrete bases to a smooth finish (flatness error ≤ 3mm), and degrease polyurea/ceramic tile bases with special cleaners;
Repair and Reinforcement: Fill cracks and holes with water-resistant repair mortar and level the surface, then grind after drying. Check the waterproof layer on walls in immersion zones and conduct local waterproof repair if damaged;
Moisture-Proof Sealing: Apply two coats of moisture-proof sealing primer, ensuring uniform coverage without missed spots. Allow an interval of 4–6 hours for curing between coats.
Base Coating: Apply 1–2 coats of water-resistant paint as the base color. Allow an interval of 6–8 hours for drying between coats to ensure uniform color without showing through;
Layout and Positioning: Mark pattern outlines with spirit levels and tape measures. Adopt projection stenciling for complex patterns to ensure accurate proportion and no deviation;
Layered Painting: Follow the principle of "large areas first, small details later; dark colors first, light colors later". Use rollers for large-area painting, and brushes/airbrushes for detailing. Adopt airbrush overlay for gradient colors;
Detail Optimization: Repair rough edges and uneven colors when the paint is semi-dry to enhance line sharpness. For multi-layer patterns, wait until the previous layer is completely cured (≥ 12 hours) before construction.
Topcoat Protection: After the mural is completely dry (24–48 hours), apply two coats of water-resistant and UV-resistant topcoat with horizontal and vertical cross application to avoid bubbles and sagging;
Comprehensive Acceptance: Check pattern integrity, color consistency and surface smoothness (slip-resistant texture meets standards), and conduct local repairs on defective parts;
On-Site Cleaning: Remove masking materials, wipe off residual paint around the area and clear construction waste.
Base: No hollowing or cracks, humidity ≤ 85%, primer coverage rate 100%;
Mural: No pattern distortion or color showing through, neat edges, no missed coating or sagging;
Protection: Topcoat thickness ≥ 0.2mm, adhesion ≥ Grade 2, no blistering after 96-hour water resistance test;
Safety: Non-toxic and odorless materials, surface slip coefficient ≥ 0.5 (in wet condition).
In-Process Inspection: Sign off on each stage including base treatment, base coating, mural painting and topcoating;
Final Acceptance: Provide material test reports and construction records, and conduct on-site tests for slip resistance and color uniformity.
Prevent water from entering or immersing the construction area, and prohibit tourists from touching or scratching the murals;
Maintain ventilation to accelerate the complete curing of the topcoat (optimal performance is achieved in 7 days at an ambient temperature of 25℃).
Cleaning: Wipe with clean water and soft cloths. Use neutral cleaners for stubborn stains (avoid strong acids and alkalis);
Inspection: Conduct monthly inspections, focusing on immersion zones and high-frequency contact zones. Timely repair local wear and fading;
Renovation: Depending on the wear condition, locally reapply topcoat or carry out full mural renovation every 3–5 years.
