Construction Conditions
1) Substrate Preparation Requirements
Structural Foundation: The substrate must be firm without hollowing to ensure stable load-bearing capacity, preventing the falling-off of elastic tiles due to loose base in the later stage.
Surface Condition: The surface shall be flat, free of laitance, loose layers and protruding particles, and laitance and other impurities shall be removed by grinding. Meanwhile, oil stains, water stains, dust and other contaminants must be thoroughly cleaned (special cleaning agents can be used for wiping or high-pressure water guns for rinsing) to keep the substrate clean and ensure effective adhesion of the adhesive.
Dryness Level: The substrate must be dry without any moisture traces, avoiding the impact of moisture on the curing effect and bonding strength of the adhesive.
2) Environmental & Climatic Restrictions
Weather Conditions: Construction is prohibited on rainy, snowy or typhoon days. Rain and snow will wet the substrate and affect the bonding performance of materials; strong winds such as typhoons may cause splashing of construction materials and uneven curing of coatings, along with potential safety hazards.
Temperature Requirements: The ambient temperature for construction shall be ≥10℃. If the temperature is below 10℃, the curing speed of adhesives, sealants and other materials will be slowed down, or even incomplete curing will occur, which affects the construction quality and subsequent service performance.
Substrate Moisture Content: The moisture content of the substrate shall be ≤10%. Excessively high moisture content will hinder the effective bonding between the adhesive and the substrate, easily causing problems such as delamination and blistering. Therefore, construction can only be carried out after the substrate dries to meet the standard.
Construction Process
Substrate Treatment: Grind the substrate (tiles, mosaics, etc.) with an angle grinder or sandpaper to remove surface dust and oil stains, exposing the firm base layer. Repair cracks and depressions and smooth them out to ensure the substrate is flat and clean.
Primer Application: Mix the epoxy primer according to the instructions. Apply it evenly with a roller brush or spray gun (spreading rate: 0.1-0.2kg/㎡ as reference) to ensure full coverage without missing spots. Proceed to the next process after surface drying (about 2-4 hours at 25℃).
Underwater Composite Elastic Tile Installation: Apply a special adhesive in a thickness of 3-5mm (the application direction shall be perpendicular to that of the primer). Paste the elastic tiles according to the layout, press them lightly to ensure tight bonding and adjust the tile joints (2-3mm is recommended). Check the flatness and make timely adjustments.
Joint Treatment: Clean impurities at special joints such as internal and external corners and pipe roots. Weld the seams with welding rods of the same material; apply sealant to irregular parts. Ensure the adhesive layer is continuous and full to prevent water penetration.
